Iperius Console is a software for centralized management and monitoring of PCs, Servers, and backup procedures.

The main functionality of Iperius Console is to allow easy control of numerous computers and servers from a single interface. The control mainly involves the backup status (Iperius Backup must be installed on the monitored machines, Iperius Backup) and the system health and security status at the hardware and software levels. Iperius Console allows monitoring the presence of antivirus and firewalls, disk space usage, RAM and CPU usage, running processes, etc.

Iperius Console can be tested and purchased from its official website. After purchase, access credentials and a license code will be sent to us.
To add a new computer to those monitored by Iperius Console, we first need to install the Console Agent software on the remote computer (endpoint). The installation of Iperius Console Agent will require the license code received after purchase and the name of the “workgroup” where we want to place the computer.
For instructions on how to perform this operation, consult the related tutorial: https://www.iperiusbackup.net/monitorare-i-vostri-backup-con-iperius-console/.

Starting from version 3.0.0, Iperius Console allows Remote Desktop connection using Iperius Remote 4, essentially using the remote support product of the Iperius suite as a real plug-in.
This functionality is already included in Iperius Console and can be used directly from the web interface by entering the access credentials sent via email at the time of purchasing Iperius Console.

Remote connection with Iperius Remote

With the Iperius Console application for Windows, it is also possible to use Iperius Console to connect to computers via remote desktop easily and immediately.

To use this feature, you need to have Iperius Remote on your computer (Iperius Remote must be at least version 4.3.2). Iperius Remote is portable software, so we will have the IperiusRemote.exe file in the folder where we downloaded it.

All computers will show a description with the status and version of Iperius Console Agent, Iperius Remote, and Iperius Backup:

Click on the row of the computer you want to connect to via remote desktop, and click on the button where the Iperius Remote ID is displayed.

A dropdown menu will appear with several options, enabled or disabled depending on the status of Iperius Remote and Iperius Console Agent on that computer.

The options are as follows:

  • Open Remote Desktop
  • Download and Connect
  • Restart Application
  • Update

Below, we explain what can be done with the various menu options:

Open Remote Desktop

As the text suggests, this menu option allows us to connect to the monitored computer via remote desktop. If we click on this option, Iperius Remote will open, automatically connecting to the remote computer. If it is not enabled, click on “Restart Application.”

Download and Connect

This menu option appears enabled if the monitored computer does not have Iperius Remote (it may not be installed as a service, not connected, or not present on the remote machine). By clicking on it, Iperius Console will send a command to the remote computer to download Iperius Remote and enable it to receive connections (you will need to wait a few minutes and then refresh the screen).

Restart Application

This menu option is enabled when the remote computer has Iperius Remote downloaded but not started. In this case, Iperius Console sends the command to the remote computer to start the Iperius Remote application (you will need to wait a few minutes and then refresh the screen). If Iperius Remote does not respond to the commands sent from the Console, simply use the “Restart Application” button, and Iperius Remote will start correctly.

Update

This menu option is active if Iperius Remote is installed as a Service, and it allows updating Iperius Remote to the latest version on the remote machine (again, you will need to wait a few minutes).

Note: If this or all menu options are not active, it is likely that the remote computer is not connected to the internet, or that the versions of Iperius Console Agent or Iperius Remote are outdated. In this case, ensure that the remote computer is connected, and access it by other means to update the relevant software.

In this brief tutorial, we have seen how Iperius Console is a very powerful and versatile IT asset monitoring tool. In addition to the common system status monitoring functions and any issues in backup procedures, Iperius Console has advanced features such as automatic remote desktop connection, a handy app for Android and iOS, and push notifications that can be received on your mobile device to keep you informed about the security of every monitored machine.
